Louis de Pointe du Lac
GENDER.
Male.
SPECIES.
Vampire; formerly human.
AGE.
25 physically / 200+ in present day.
DOB.
October 4, 1766. Libra.
HAIR.
Black, wavy, collar length.
EYES.
Green.
HEIGHT.
5'11".
BUILD.
Slender.
physical information Louis is a striking young man with delicate, expressive features and the perpetually troubled look of a philosopher. He has piercing green eyes, tousled hair, and an unnaturally pale cast to his skin that tends to draw the eye to his other, more inhuman qualities — the fangs, for example, and the fact that he's always just a little bit too still. He's tall and slender, almost gaunt, but carries himself unobtrusively; it's clear that he doesn't enjoy being the center of attention. Still, despite his reserved and often cautious manner, Louis is compassionate and curious and eager for intellectual conversation. If you let him talk for long enough, he just might tell you his life story.

VOICE.
Soft, polite, and well-spoken; a pleasant if unremarkable high baritone. His English is American-accented, with a hint of French that can be difficult to place. He's done a lot of traveling.

DRESS.
Favors dark clothing: mainly black, occasionally green. Generally dressed in an old-fashioned but comfortable style: sweaters, high-collared shirts, and long coats, a little like an accidentally handsome librarian. Wears an emerald ring on his left hand.

SCENT.
Notably, absolutely none. He might smell a bit of wherever he's been, and a little of old books and dust, but vampires have no scent of their own.

PSYCHIC.
His thoughts are generally an open book. Louis cannot read minds on his own, nor can he always tell when someone else is in his head.
public knowledge HOUSING. The Mayfair, third floor.

ASSOCIATIONS.

POWERS. Louis has publicly admitted to being a vampire in network comments.

NOCTURNAL. This boy is only awake at night.
powers Louis is a vampire, albeit a relatively weak one. He shies away from exploring his powers, so even he isn't certain how much of his weakness is innate and how much is by choice.

STRENGTHS. His preternatural speed, strength, and reflexes are enough to break iron locks, scale buildings, and make easy prey of a healthy adult man, but they're nothing compared to what a vampire of his age should be capable of.

WEAKNESSES. Though he is immortal, fire or sunlight will reduce him to ash, and destroying his heart or brain will kill him. Goes into a deathlike sleep from sunup to sundown, and cannot be woken. He will reflexively attack anyone who tries.

BLOOD & BITING (HUNGRY VERSION). Louis drinks blood! Consuming anything else will make him violently ill. If he goes hungry for more than a night or two, he'll start getting weaker and more feral. Starvation won't kill a vampire, but they will eventually go insane and wither into a mindless corpse.

BLOOD & BITING (SEXY VERSION).

VAMPIRE REPRODUCTION. Technically, Louis can create other vampires, but he absolutely refuses to cross that line ever again.
in character permissions HUGGING. YES. He will be flustered, most likely, and unsettlingly cold to the touch unless he has freshly fed.

KISSING. YES. He's a good kisser, but anything mouth-related is wildly intimate for Louis, so he will be shy about it. Also, watch out for his pointy fangs!

FLIRTING. YES. Playful banter is more likely to be taken well than blatant innuendo; he is especially partial to blond men.

ROMANCE. Possible but unlikely; he is so deeply in love with Lestat that anyone else will be a distant second in his heart at best.

SEX. Plot with me! Obviously he knows what he's in Decadia to do, but Louis' issues with intimacy run deep, and he is not looking for or interested in casual sex for its own sake. He isn't even really used to his body responding sexually (downsides to vampirism: no boners).

FIGHTING. YES. Louis loves arguing, and he can throw a decent punch

INJURY. YES. Louis is a vampire, so even severe injuries will heal with a few days of sleep. He's several times stronger and faster than an ordinary human being, but he is still flesh and blood.

DEATH. Louis is difficult to kill, but it is entirely possible. It would take fire, sunlight, or the destruction of his heart or brain.

MIND READING. YES. Louis has no mental shields. Psychic/empathic characters can feel free to pick up on any surface emotions and thoughts — that is, if it's prose in a tag, it's probably fair game. For anything deeper, drop me a line so we can chat about specifics. Louis will be pretty crabby about realizing someone's digging around in there without permission, but he can't do much about it.

CONTENT WARNINGS & SENSITIVE TOPICS. Louis is a vampire! Genre-relevant warnings may apply to some threads: mentions of topics like blood, murder, death, et cetera. He's also a bottomless pit of guilt and self-loathing, and his grief over his dead child is never too far from his mind. He has some passive suicidal ideation tied to his immortality, but it isn't likely to come up without warning.

TOPICS TO AVOID. None that I can think of.
out of character permissions BACKTAGGING. Yes. Likewise, if I've let a tag sit for more than a week, feel free to poke me about it. There's a very good chance it went into my memory hole.

FOURTH WALLING. Yes, absolutely! In Louis's case, his canon, Interview with the Vampire, was published in-universe and passed off as a work of fiction. If you've heard of him, he'll just sigh. If you tell him they made a movie out of it, he'll ask whether it was any good. If you're one of Lestat's fans... well, so is he, but he's embarrassed about it.

THREAD HOPPING. If it's an open network thread, no need to ask. I'll PM if there's any issue!

OOC LIMITS & WARNINGS. No hard limits from me! I'll touch base if a thread starts going somewhere I'd rather not take it.

ANYTHING ELSE? The Vampire Chronicles is a very dark canon, and Louis himself can be very morbid. I'm always willing to change the direction of a thread for the sake of player comfort (or any other reason) — just give me a heads up!
